Milestone Alert!!!
Last night our beautiful baby girl slept "through the night." Yes, it's the moment we've all been waiting for and it has happened!
The background on this story is that she had gone from a poor sleeper to a bad sleeper to a horrible sleeper over the course of the last 3-4 months. Her nighttime habits were - as it turns out - a result of our undisciplined approach to putting her to bed and maintaining her environment through the night.
So, Christie read a new book on improving baby sleep and I got to implement the plan this week (with Christie in Indianapolis). We now go up for bed at around 8:00~PM and do storytime. There's some brief cradling and then I put her in the crib. She of course cries, but quickly is succmed by fatigue and goes to sleep. On Monday night she woke one time for comforting. Last night she did wake several times but went back to sleep on her own without crying. Good Girl!!
So that's it. I never thought it would be so easy. We had been running and feeding her when she would wake over night. And the biggest problem was that we would feed her to go to sleep each night.
Now she is learning how to sleep on her own and it's possible our adult lives may return to some level of normalcy after all!
