Playtime IV - Dawn of the Dad

Here you have the closest thing to live action shots I have been able to muster in the last few weeks. As mentioned, things have been a bit busy. You'll see my hand conspicuously holding the remote photo release. The reality is I had about 2 seconds each time to hide that little thing and I kept forgettting! Sorry - but there is an adjustment to something new (yes it was an Xmas gift; thanks Debbie) but in the future I promise you will think the photos were taken by SOMEONE ELSE!

Enjoy

East Falls: Falls Bridge Lighting Ceremony

A few weekends ago we joined our friends in East Falls to watch the famous Falls Bridge get lit for the first time publicly. In attendance were some political celebrities like Ed Rendel and Michael Nutter. It was really great to see our bridge lit after all these years. I used to always think it would be a beautiful bridge if lit at night. Now I no longer need to daydream about it! The trouble is that we very rarely have a reason to drive on or past the Falls Bridge. Oh well.

January 10th Bathtime

Willa went through a spell which featured insane screaming during every bath. That was not a very enjoyable 6 weeks! Fortunately for us, that spell has ended and she is now once again a fan of the bath. You can see her in these photos enjoying one of her Christmas gifts - bath toys.

Since these photos were taken, she has actually graduated to the tub (with a rubber non-slip mat). So, she's now taking big girl baths!

Biscuits!

Willa's Holiday Portraits 12/27/07

Yes, it has been a long time. Yes, we have photos backlogged from the blogging hiatus. No, I can't post them all. Between this and a few more posts, I'll catch everyone up with the growth of little Babygirl Weidner.

Sleeping Beauty

Milestone Alert!!!

Last night our beautiful baby girl slept "through the night." Yes, it's the moment we've all been waiting for and it has happened!

The background on this story is that she had gone from a poor sleeper to a bad sleeper to a horrible sleeper over the course of the last 3-4 months. Her nighttime habits were - as it turns out - a result of our undisciplined approach to putting her to bed and maintaining her environment through the night.

So, Christie read a new book on improving baby sleep and I got to implement the plan this week (with Christie in Indianapolis). We now go up for bed at around 8:00~PM and do storytime. There's some brief cradling and then I put her in the crib. She of course cries, but quickly is succmed by fatigue and goes to sleep. On Monday night she woke one time for comforting. Last night she did wake several times but went back to sleep on her own without crying. Good Girl!!

So that's it. I never thought it would be so easy. We had been running and feeding her when she would wake over night. And the biggest problem was that we would feed her to go to sleep each night.

Now she is learning how to sleep on her own and it's possible our adult lives may return to some level of normalcy after all!

Catching Up!

The very last post you see on the blog before this one was made during a walk we took in the park on the weekend after Christmas. Later that day, I became ill and that sickness turned into several days of suffering. After recovery, the blog wasn't exactly high on the priority list, but I can't believe how long it has actually been since I posted.

So, let's just say not too much happened in January - until last night! But I'll save that for a different post.

Yes, we had a nice holiday. The weather has been cold. Our house is holding together well. Bla bla bla. The courtyard project finally finished and we have a new entrance door from Lombard Street. We're also looking forward to spring and planting a new garden.

The neighborhood is picking up with a lot of restaurant activity recently.

Oh, and we're again thinking about Philly Car Share. So, I guess time will tell!
