Happy Birthday, Willa!

Two years ago today, I unexpectedly went into labor and remember being so surprised when the doctor announced it was a girl. I was convinced we were having a boy. I don't remember a lot about that day due to the anesthesia for my c-section, but I cannot forget hearing the doctor tell us it was a girl and my response, "It's a girl?". I was so excited!

In the last two years, we've seen our little 5-pounder develop in so many ways. She's now 27 pounds, walks, talks, sometimes demands, laughs, cries, makes us laugh, makes me cry (and maybe Markus, too), and is simply the most precious person in our lives. Her personality has developed so much since her first birthday, I guess in part because she can now talk.

Her language skills have exploded, as everyone said they would. She's now putting two and three word combinations and short sentences together. She remembers people who she hasn't seen recently, recognizes peoples voices on the phone, likes to sing and dance, is pretty opinionated about the clothing and shoes she wears, likes to eat, play at the park, and be a helper to her mommy and daddy.

Many days, we're tired at the end of the day, but I don't think either of us would want it any other way. We've been so lucky to have Willa as our daughter for two years now. She brings us so much joy and laughter; I know her third year will be full of more exciting developments, though we hope the terrible twos aren't too terrible!

Happy Birthday, baby girl!
